Meet the Artists Art Studio Tours

Lectures
Performing Arts 101
Monday, Feb 18, 2019 at 4:00 PM (ET) to Monday, Feb 18, 2019 at 5:00 PM (ET)

Two sessions – first session 4-5 pm; second session 5-6 pm Groups of a maximum of 20 visitors will visit each studio for 20 minutes during each one of the sessions.

Painting Studio- Carol Prusa, Professor Drawing and Painting, creates worlds merging pre-industrial craft methods with contemporary strategies, where curved surfaces are articulated to create liminal skins between known and unknown. These thresholds express her sense of euphoria when glimpsing the interconnectedness that surrounds and binds to express the strangeness and vital beauty of what is possible. The studio tour will include an installation of recent work and work in-progress. Prusa works in fiberglass sculpture with programmed fiber optics, ceramic sculpture, glass and paintings.

Printmaking Studio- Joseph Velasquez, Assistant Professor of Printmaking, will discuss prints created by visiting artists, students and faculty. A curated selection of prints, including etchings, woodcuts and screen prints will be exhibited. The Print Club will be doing live demonstrations of printing woodblocks on t-shirts and screen printing posters.

Sculpture Studio- Julie Anne Ward's (Assistant Professor of Sculpture) work folds in the remnants of vanishing industrial practices. The fading past and rapidly evolving present occupy the striated spaces of history giving us glimpses of the spaces between parallel worlds: between past and present, between old and new, between traditional and contemporary, between the material and the ephemeral. The studio tour will include a faculty and student sclpture exhibit.
